Apparently Dan Akroyd has now stated that the game's enthusiastic reception has gotten gears turning and all controlling partners of Ghostbusters are interested in tuning up the old car and strapping on the power packs again. A Ghostbusters 3 is indeed a possibility and that filming could even conceivably begin in winter 2009.

I guess that would mean a script is in the process. Akroyd states he would see it as sort of a passing of the torch movie.

And even Bill Murray, who can veto a project as a controlling owner of Ghostbusters, has stated the wounds of Ghostbusters II have healed and he's interested in looking at the project as well.

I guess that would mean Ghostbusters: The Video Game would be a 2.5 story if a third movie got the green light.

Akroyd says he's just waiting for the call. (Who ya gonna call?)

"Enter YOU. Your character. Over the course of playing from level 1 to 60, YOUR character has joined with others and led groups or armies to save Stormwind from the Defias plot to destroy the city with their warship. YOU and your allies have ended the threat in Shadowfang Keep. It was YOUR brave deeds that assaulted the Dark Iron nation and overthrew their Emperor. YOU who confronted Deathwing’s brood; Onyxia and Nefarion and slew them both, bringing their draconic heads back to your nation as proof of your heroic deed. From there, you fought in the War of the Shifting Sands against the Qiraji and their masters. Even some gathered together and fought the demigod Ragnaros and assaulted Naxxramas itself! These deeds are heroic beyond measure and will be sung by minstrels for ages!"

You'll bring tears of glory to my eyes...*Sniff* I didn't know I was so awesome...I was just doing instances for gear...

"Illidan. We’re stepping up a notch, I suppose, but what did he do? Where is his greatness from? "

Well........He destroyed the Well of Eternity, made the Maelstorm, in-look he banished Sargaras, made the second Well of Eternity, forced the Dragons to give Night Elves immortality, and forced the Highborne to become High Elves after travelling the Great Sea.
He did a little more then you'd give him credit for, but in truth, he is -in the end- a Night Elf.
A demon-ridden Night Elf, and despite him doing great things, so did we.

I think we're on equal terms, Illidan.

"So drop the whining and complaining because a character from Warcraft III lore is getting killed. It’s called denouement, closure, and a conclusion to the story. When one story concludes, the seeds laid give rise to the next tale. And always…"

Well said indeed!

Truls,

I agree with everything you said, except I have only one small point to counter.

Chestypuller, Pwnyew, and all the others that use silly names are more than welcome to them...and I consider the appropriate place for these players to be on a Normal PvE or a PvP server.

I play on a Roleplay Server, which I think should be held to the rules of the naming policy more strictly than the other servers (which do, actually, fall under the same rules for naming).

But thanks for the response. Your input is very much appreciated. While I realize a blog won't change anything, it's an outlet for frustration. Alternatively, I could punch my monitor, but then I couldn't play WoW and my monitor wouldn't like me (it holds grudges). ;)

Oh, and if I ever see a player named "Pwnyexpress" then they can get a free kill...I'll be too busy laughing. That's a good one. (I'm not completely heartless, I did think the joke guild of "My Little Pwnies" was funny, but it only lasted 24 hours before someone squashed it on the server with GM intervention)

First of all, let me say that I partake in no obscene or outlandish naming of characters, no swearing in chat, and no nubile exhibitionism in Goldshire, and agree that they are nothing other than childish attempts to rock the boat. This is just my objective opinion.

I agree with Gough, and you, the author, in that battlegrounds do tend towards those attempting to over-inflate themselves to let the world know what a noobpwner they are, as most names would suggest. However, I must agree to the utmost with Gough in that it is only a game, you know, one of those things that people do to have a bit of fun? You of all people can relate to that. If it makes someone feel good to call themselves chestypuller, let them have their kicks, and hit them extra hard if it makes you feel better. From what I can tell in your article, you play wow for fun and relaxation, and I suggest that it becomes a lot easier if you ignore trivial things like names that 10 year-old boys invent to be dirty where their parents won't find out. If you really want things to change, there are ways to go about it. talk to a GM, let people know in BG's that you don't like swearing, and it's very simple (and effective) to click the ignore button in your chat window. As I'm sure you are aware, a blog or forum posting won't change a thing. The sad reality is that you find this type of person in every multi-player game on the face of the earth, and whether companies put 100's of hours a week into trying to stop this kind of thing or not, it will be a losing battle, because in someone's maladjusted head, the world needs to know that they are cool enough to name themselves pwnyexpress.

I was enjoying your article right until I hit the name section, very funny indeed. Gough is here defending one of the aforementioned names and accusations of illiteracy and immaturity. While I agree that battle grounds seem to be a breeding ground for the less mentally gifted individuals of our society. I disagree that I belong in the category with these individuals. Personally I make a point to be clear and concise when I chat in WoW as nothing frustrates me more than seeing “Y u do wat you is doing”, or a string of profanities masked by symbols when a player makes a mistake. Then again WoW is played by a great number of youths and potentially people who have English as a second language; perhaps we can be tolerant of these yet to be educated individuals. However I suggest that you have never heard profanities or poor spelling from Gough, with the exception perhaps of a typo, but that is only as my typing skills are not up to scratch.
As for the derivation of Goughspeed, Gough is Anglicized form from Gaelic for horseman, and speed, well it basicly means quick hoseman. I fail to see how that violates the terms of service. It is far from a profanity, it has a little thought to it and it is original. Sure I would not name my child Goughspeed, but I would also remind you that WoW is nothing more than a game, an escape from reality, there is nothing wrong with having a little fun with names.
